Reaching
out to seamen with the good news of Jesus Christ has been going on for centuries, ever since Jesus
himself ministered to four fishermen on the Galilean Sea
and said, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of
men," Matthew 4:19.
The
seamen’s outreach of John Carver Ministries was
initiated in the 1980’s under the auspices of Faith
Outreach Chapel. Under the direction of John Litchfield,
III, the team reaches out to hundreds of seamen with the
gospel of Christ. Ships dock in Baltimore’s harbor from
the four corners of the globe, and the team visits the
seamen aboard these ships that are in port at Baltimore’s
Dundalk Marine Terminal and Locust Point.
Jesus
said, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy
laden, and I will give you rest," Matthew 11:28. What
welcome news this is for all these seamen who are so far
away from home. "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday,
today, and forever," Hebrews 3:8.
Please
remember to pray that God will continue to reach the world
through The Seamen’s Ministry.
